NMT Peer Mentor Program Philosophy Statement

A positive first-year 经验 is the cornerstone of a 学生' success in college, 和 by extension, their careers 和 lives. 的 Peer Mentor Program 在365彩票在线过滤 has been designed to facilitate relationships between first-year (freshmen 和 transfer) 学生和 those who are further along in their major program (60+ credit hours). By interacting with more 经验d 学生 within a Mentor-Mentee relationship, first-year 学生 benefit from emotional, academic, 和 community support, which will ultimately help them succeed as developing professionals both in 和 out of the 教室. 365彩票在线过滤 recognizes the need for the university to facilitate 学生' effective transition to college life, 和 the NMT Peer Mentor Program supports this by providing a variety of 经验s, opportunities, 和 foundational skills to help 他们会成为成功的技术人员.

限制:

All mentors must enroll in a 1 credit hour Peer Mentoring course (EDUC 189, CRN 61842). This course will cover topics related to peer mentorship 和 student success support 在365彩票在线过滤. At the end of the semester all peer mentors will be eligilble—pending department certification approval—for CRLA (College Reading 和 Learning Association) 同侪导师认证.
